This book wrecked me! Long Shot by Kennedy Ryan isn’t just a second chance romance—it’s an emotional roller coaster with twists of heartbreak, healing, and hope. August and Iris are soulmates who fight through unimaginable pain to find their way back to each other, and let me tell you, their journey is not for the faint of heart.
Kennedy Ryan has this incredible way of pulling you into her characters’ lives, making you feel every high, every low, and every ounce of resilience. Iris’s story is brutal—a gut-wrenching, soul-shaking path through domestic abuse and survival—but it’s also a testament to strength, love, and second chances. And the little touches of New Orleans’ Creole culture? Loved it. The bond between Iris and her cousin was especially sweet and reminded me of my own relationship with my prima bestie.
Would I read this again? Honestly, I don’t think my heart could take it. But this story will stay with me forever. If you're up for an intense but beautifully written read, definitely pick this up—but check the trigger warnings first!
