This book's crime is being exceedingly boring. The main reason why I finished this is because I have a terrible habit of forcing myself to finish books. It’s tragic really! And shitty books profit from this disorderly behavior of mine every day! Ha. Just kidding! (If I had to read Daisy say that far too many times you do as well). I got this book at the library based on vibes. I thought it'd be a silly ya book. It was..

Character-wise, I liked Daisy and her family as characters.
Daisy’s mom adopting all the animals at the end was cute.
Unfortunately, that is where it ends. Everyone else annoys me. Mr Hawking was a racist. I don’t care about that other family enough to talk about that. I wanted to read a book about friendship.
But of course, Diasy had to fall in love with Henry, and Kyle had to be a creep and sexually assault her and kiss her. Trying to have a love triangle moment made this even more cringe.
Nothing was worse than all the pop culture references. My little pony is my only exception.

The reading experience: It was okay.
My favorite part was when Diasy was confused trying to discover everything with her brother
. Before, It’s boring. Maybe all the stuff about what Diasy was learning about Europe plagues had a point but it didn’t feel any less dull. After,
It's just her in the compound. I didn’t believe anything going on. I wanted Daisy to just run away really. The ending is there being a fire hazard, and everyone attempts to escape. There's an error with Martin and Peter since he got locked away in the bunker. What is the ending you wonder? Officials find a cure! The most anticlimactic thing I’ve read in a while.

What even is the theme of this book? That the universe is protecting you always? So things will always turn out alright?
It irritates me. I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad message. It can be a great one representing, Hope is an important thing to have. But in my opinion not here, where it's an excuse for Diasy to be written passively. It feels like her only role is a narrator
. Maybe in another universe, the universe would’ve protected me from a book that only can be described as meh.
