amazing book! not only does it bring into question the power struggle between genders, it also criticizes the panoptic nature of institutions (particularly the boarding school frankie attends). fun stuff with word play also (neglected positives and all that). frankie is one of the best characters i've come across. she's smart, subversive and assertive. great role model for any girl. even the ending feels realistic. i'd love to see this in a discussion setting!
