The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro

3.0

i struggled so much to get through the first 100 pages and i cant even say why. maybe because i had been fed up with literary fiction at that time, but yesterday i picked this novel up again and found it so much easier to get through and the ending put this immense pressure on my chest that you feel right before you cry. not the best novel i read and probably boring to a lot of people but the way the author shows the emotions of the characters very subtly only through dialogue or by way of having others react to the character currently emoting is a curious thing
