Honestly, I expected more out of this book. I got the impression the author wanted to write the book that they would like to read; however, in the journey to be diverse, the story has been lost. I don't believe any of the emotions felt by the characters as we never really saw the stakes. We didn't truly see the relationships developing - we were simply told. I'm a huge preacher or show don't tell, and, unfortunately, there was a lot of telling in this story. Now, that being said, I believe this writer has a lot of room to grow and could create stories that will make people feel things in the future.
