This books triggered me a lot and actually caused me anxiety. It dealt with a lot of betray and abandonment issues and I wasn’t really prepared for how it would make me feel. Maybe if there had been one character who wasn’t a truly awful and despicable person, I might have found it better. It needed a Cousin Greg (Succession). I could never get past feeling that Jeremy was a manipulator and never telling the truth and ultimately I think believe the letter. Maybe I’m coming at it from the wrong point of view but that’s how I felt. The sex scenes in this are also a bit … weird - even a character says she’s bored reading them! Overall, I’m not sorry for Lowen. She made her bed, and now she has to lie in it.
