Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

5.0

A warning. This contains Spoilers.
And, took about a week, but I've finished my re-read of The Twilight Saga. I'm not sure what to do now, since I've been so engrossed in the world for a week. And I don't go to the screening for like 2 weeks. I should have started closer..but..I was worried I wouldn't get through them in time. It's been a LONG time since I've lost myself reading.
Anyway.
Spoilers Start Here:
So, I've finished Breaking Dawn, and, I still hold that it's the best out of the four. Especially the last couple hundred pages, when they're preparing to face The Volturi, and then when they face The Volturi. I know some were let down that there wasn't a fight or whatnot, but, you know. This was just as..no, this was more satisfying than if there had been a fight. I would probably HATE Twilight if the last book contained a fight where characters died, even the new ones.(There's probably a reason I haven't re-read the later books in the Harry Potter series) Hell, I decided not to re-read The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner after reading Eclipse because even HER death upset me. I think the..lack of violence in resolution to Breaking Dawn was..powerful. Especially as Twilight and Eclipse had both ended in fights. It only made sense that, Breaking Dawn end with no violence. The death of Irina was upsetting..as it always is. The shocking nature of it too. Bella and Edward's goodbyes to Renesmee and Jacob STILL made me cry. Even though I KNEW that in just a couple pages Alice would show up and they'd live. I was still on the edge of my seat scared that Garrett was going to be killed when he spoke to The Volturi's witnesses, and declared that he would fight in defense of the Cullens and Renesmee. Stephenie Meyer is not a brilliant writer, no one has ever argued that. But she's a good one. She's not horrible. Her writing may sometimes not be as good as it could be, but, she's able to capture the reader. Make you care about these characters. And that alone makes her great. I only wish for MORE.
Anyway.
I've finished this saga once again. Maybe this means I can start sleeping at normal hours again. Lol. I've been so engrossed in these books I've been staying up all night.
