Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn
5.0

Fan-Favorite Trilogy. Book 1.

Now it took me a while but I've finally taken the time to start this book. This is a story based on the original trilogy, meaning the sequels play a little to no part in this story. You just need to have watched the original trilogy and you'll be okay.

Now here we get introduced to most people's favorite Star Wars villain and let's just say that he makes an impression. From his intelligence to his ruthlessness, Grand Admiral Thrawn makes a huge impact. We also get to catch up with our original heroes and see how life is going five years after the Battle of Endor.

This story starts laying down the groundwork for a final conflict between the New Republic and the last vestiges of the Empire. All while exposing the internal turmoil inside the New Republic. We do get some hidden dangers that will be explained as the trilogy continues, but all in all, I feel like every page had something interesting to offer.

I will hit the second installment sometime next month. And hopefully, finish the trilogy before the second Ascendancy book comes out.
