I almost feel unqualified to criticise this book. I know how beloved it is and Morrison is heralded, still, as a pioneer in literature, so perhaps this book demands a reread, but as of now, here’s what I think. This book had some zingers of lines and an incredibly unique plot, but it screamed inaccessibility and seemingly pointlessly crude language. I truly feel like it was a fever dream. I don’t think I actually understood what happened and what she was trying to say, so maybe that’s a me problem. For a book so short, it took me so long to get through and nearly plunged me into a slump. Perhaps I’m not smart enough for this book, or I’m not at the right stage to read it yet, but yeah not that big a fan.
