Upstream: Selected Essays by Mary Oliver

4.0

It's a pleasure to be on Mary Oliver's wave length. I had to read this book slowly because I wasn't always in the receptive state of repose that was necessary to truly enjoy it. She conveys so beautifully her sense of being at home in nature, even its darkest rhythms, while also bringing her keen intellect to thinkers and poets like Emerson and Whitman. A very enriching read that I hope to dip back into again and again.
