Summer Crossing by Truman Capote

3.0

I bought this book by chance at a pop-up Strand book store on Fifth Ave on July 4 and then started reading this Manhattan set novel in Central Park later that day...such a romantic backstory for a summertime read while travelling in NYC, huh?!

Not Capote's best, but evidently he didn't deem it worth publishing and others decided posthumously on his estate's behalf that it was worth printing. Whether you feel it should have been published or not, it's still an enjoyable work with that elegant style and nuanced understanding of human character that would later become trademarks.
