Katherine by Anya Seton

If you've never read anything about the Duke of Lancaster and Katherine Swynford, as I hadn't, this book is a great place to start. I'm well familiar with their descendants, the Tudors, but the true story of this unusual couple makes a compelling read. Their relationship started out as an illicit romance that produced four children out of wedlock, who where subsequently legitimized by their parents eventual and very controversial marriage. This book makes me hungry to read more about the Plantagenets (?), especially when I think I've overdosed on the Tudors!
