Interesting overall, but it hits some story points that I've seen before, particularly with the role of women (i.e. in repopulating the earth). 

Also generally, Idk if it's the thoughts of the protagonist or the author himself, but some of the attitudes towards women are...tired. 

• Josella's "frivolity": dressing up, choosing the "overfeminine" bedroom, magical freshening-up 
• the author's descriptions of women: young/youngish, fixated on their appearances
