Funeral Songs for Dying Girls by Cherie Dimaline

5.0

This wasn't a novel, this was a beautifully crafted work of art. I never read [b:The Marrow Thieves|34649348|The Marrow Thieves|Cherie Dimaline|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1490885548l/34649348._SY75_.jpg|55810844] back in high school, it wasn't on our curriculum unfortunately, but I wish I had because now I'm finding an author that writes with such grace that I need to find more of her work. Winifred is a character I found myself loving simply because she wanted to exist, her goals were understandable and she felt like a teenager just figuring herself out. This is more than just the spooky ghost story it's pitched as, this has so much growth and heart behind it that I found myself entranced. A phenomenal book, that I can't recommend enough.
