A Good Book by Jewel E. Ann
5.0

Yep, I am going to go ahead and do it…this was more than a good book, it was a humorous book, an emotional book, a book about growth, a book about acceptance, a book about persevering through change, and a book about young, hopeful love.. Nope, it wasn’t a good book, it was a GREAT book.

Yes, this book, like all the others, has a phenomenal soundtrack for you 80-90s lovers but, I want to talk about MY soundtrack to this story; which consisted of squeals of joy, groans of shared embarrassment, grasps of surprise, giggles of fun , and sniffles…both kinds. It took me through the emotional ringer and I loved every minute of it! Gabby was so relatable and highly endearing to me. I could literally relive my younger naivety as she fumbled through her first kiss, and so much more; which made her growth throughout the story even more triumphant in my eyes.

Ben was something so special. From the very beginning he loved her enough to want only her happiness, even with another guy. But, when his time came, he hesitated only briefly before pouring on all the charm to show Gabby he was the right guy. With almost a lifetime of friendship between them, their first everythings together were so powerful, so much more and I adored everything about it.

It wouldn’t be a Jewel book without some twists (note:the aforementioned sniffles) and these two really go through it. Their youth is challenged in ways you don’t see coming, their young emotions having to deal with some heavy things, but the way they rise to support each other is really the beauty in this story.

I highly, highly recommend this series! I am so sad to see this one end but, Jewel really left no stone unturned. From the first line of Sunday Morning to the last in A Good Book, these characters matured and flourished. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. making my heart content as I turned the last page
