On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
by Stephen King
On Writing is an book. It's obviously a writing book intended for writers, but even [a:Stephen King|3389|Stephen King|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1362814142p2/3389.jpg] readers should find it interesting. As a writing book, it's very good. King talks in depth about his own process, both how he works in general and how he got to where he is today (or, was in 1999). He's very opinionated on several topics, which I think it's both a strength and a weakness. It's a strength because it tells us more of what we want to know about King, but a weakness in the sense that not everything he advises will apply to every writer. I thought his most valuable advice on the value of story and importance of good dialogue.
I read the book when it first came out and found it really good then, and it definitely still holds up on a second read.
