Dreamcatcher
by Stephen King
I usually don’t care for books and movies about alien invasions. The trope is overdone and boring to me. However, this book is different. Yes it’s about alien invasions, but it’s a slow burn which focuses mostly on the main characters, giving the reader a strong foundation of their relationship which is essential to the alien invasion plot. It’s very rare for a book to have characters I both love AND despise equal amounts, but this book did an excellent job. It did take forever to read since it’s quite heavy, and there is some moments where it feels dragged on, but for the most part it’s a page turner & perfect for a long train ride or a slow day at work. Stephen King’s world building and character development shine through yet again. It may not be his best work but it’s still enjoyable.
