The Paris Wife
by Paula McLain
This is probably a better book than I'm giving it credit for. I listened to the audiobook and this was one of a few times where I felt the reader might not be doing the book justice. There were times when Handley Richardson (the protagonist) came off shrill and shallow. This took away from me being able to connect and sympathize with her.
I've read "The Sun Also Rises" and "Z" which cover some of the key parts of the story as well. It's probably not fair to say but I felt like this was the same story from a blander perspective.
I've also read "Circling the Sun" and feel that it's a much better book for it's descriptiveness and depth of character. I know that "The Paris Wife" was written first and because of that I'll be willing to read more of McLain's work.
It's a good book.
