Finding Me
by Viola Davis
I love Viola Davis, I feel as though she is one of the most genuine actors in Hollywood.
What you see is what you get, she brings her authentic self to her roles, her interviews, her acceptance speeches and definitely to this book.
From her childhood in Rhode Island to acting on stage, to her induction into the Shondaland family with her role in How To Get Away With Murder, her rise to fame story is one of grit, hard work and determination.
There's a line in this book that I love, where she was talking about how people see her and they tell her how great she looks and how she seems so happy and how much she has changed and they credit this to her husband Julius, and she said yeah he did change my life, but "I changed my life and Julius was the reward, my peace was the reward" and I thought that that was such a beautiful way to honour her relationship with her husband without diminishing the hard work she did to get to where she is.
This is a definite five star for me.
