The Testing
by Joelle Charbonneau
This was a fabulous book. I definitely saw connections to both The Hunger Games trilogy & the Divergent trilogy already in the first book, but it did have some unique twists and turns along the way.
I found this book a little bit hard to get into, but once I was about 50 pages in, I didn't want to put it down.
Cia has been chosen for The Testing, but just before leaving was warned by her dad that she couldn't trust anyone - which goes against everything she has ever known growing up in the Five Lakes Colony (formerly The Great Lakes).
I thought it was interesting that the city & places mentioned were made up (for the most part) but they were still recognizable through description to figure out where they were on an actual map.
I think I will have to get my library to find books 2 & 3 for me so I can see what happens to Cia & Tomas & Will.
