This was a solid romantic comedy type book and being a huge hockey fan this really caught my eye. Definitely recommend along with the other two Hartigan books!
So Zach’s situation is not unique so to say. I would recommend googling Jack Johnson (hockey player not the singer). Exactly what happened to Zach happened to him it was incredibly sad to find out that someone’s parents could do that to their child.
And small little critique. When referring to a hockey teams first line that usually only means the three forwards a line is just that. When she called the forwards plus Zach and his defense partner the “first line” that was kind of inaccurate. Because your defensive pairing is changing a little less frequently than your forwards. So Zach as a defenseman would not exclusively be paired with a forward line another defenseman yes but the forward line he is out with would change basically every time he’s on the ice.
