1.5 stars. Firstly, I would like to point out that E.Lockhart is one of my favourite authors, but this book was just so bad. So please pick up ‘We Were Liars’ instead, it’s so much better.
The plot of this book would make you think it’s for pre teens, but the content of the book, I would say isn’t suitable for that age group, so I’m just really confused about who is actually meant to read this book and enjoy it. The only reason it’s not 1 star is because I appreciated the little gay rights speech and the nod to feminism. But it’s all undermined buy the fact that it’s coming from a girl who is actually a fly spying on boys in the changing rooms, which is just a bit wrong, creepy, and confusing. I really would not recommend this book. I can’t speak for any other of E. Lockhart’s writings, but I really hope that ‘We Were Liars’ was not just a fluke.
