It has been a long time since a book has woven its way into my psyche like this book did. It is a stunning, unnerving look at some of the darkest parts of life. The writing is beautiful and evocative. The book is explicit without ever being erotic. Strane is so easy to hate and Vanessa is so easy to love. The best part of the book, no spoilers, is that the end was hopeful. I have a full time job, and devoured this book in under 24 hours. I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. I wish I were a better writer so that I could explain how brilliant this book was. I will be coming back to this book for years to come.
