The Little White Horse
by Elizabeth Goudge
I can't remember which year it was that I bought this book. I've been reading on this one forever,
but I've had other books that I've prioritized and finished. I recently finished A Dance With Dragons and I finally found the time to finish it. It was the movie adaption "The Secret of Moonacre" (2008) that inspired me to read it. I could not resist after finding out that the movie which I loved was based on a book. The book and the movie are very different, but they both have their ups and downs. The movie did not have the christian element, but the movie does not have beautiful descriptions of light, colour and nature that the book has. The light and playfulness of the book balances its darker corner like the fact that Maria is an orphan, and the blood feud between Merrywether and Coq de Noir. A simple way to put it, it is a very innocent tale about pride.
