This was a cute read and a great palate cleanser after reading a book I absolutely despised.

I liked the main character, even though some of her decision-making was frustrating.

Maybe I’m dumb, but I didn’t actually think she was going to end up with Hugo. I really liked seeing her build her relationship with Jake. In retrospect, it’s obvious that the author intended for her and Hugo to be intertwined; I just liked what she was building with Jake. We got the snapshot of how strong her connection with Hugo was, but we lived in her relationship with Jake longer. He was just so good to her, but I understand why they weren’t end game.

Since the author decided to have her and Hugo end up together, I wish the epilogue was a little longer so we could live in their bliss for a bit.

Overall, a really cute book with some magical realism, very likable characters, an easy to follow plot with some serious subject matters, and a FMC who’s easy to root for.

This was my first Rebecca Serle, and I can definitely see myself reading more from her.
