This book was really difficult to get through. I watched the movie back in the 90’s when I was a kid, so I didn’t remember much. But this book was filled with racist views, racial slurs, derogatory terms and stereotypes. I find it very unsettling and disturbing and kinda disgusting when yt authors feel so comfortable flinging around this kind of language even if it reflects the era. The theme seemed to be “I’m yt and not racist, but still think black people are beneath me, and I’m afraid of them.” 

“Thank the lord he made you white.” 

Barf.
