Why Fish Don't Exist: A Story of Loss, Love, and the Hidden Order of Life by Lulu Miller

informative reflective medium-paced

The scientific ideas were interesting but I found that there author's personal story around
cheating
to not be ingratiating, and had I known there several mentions of suicidal ideation I wouldn't have read this book.
Additionally, I found David Starr Jordan to be deeply unlikeable -his treatment of his family, playing favorites with his children, his likely and alleged
murdering of Jane Stanford
, his role in American (and glabal) eugenics....

I genuine enjoyed some of the philosophical and scientific discussions around language and existence, bodily autonomy, and categorizing the natural world. The peripheral stories just weren't for me
