I first read this when this came out (I was in middle school then), and now I've just read it again as an adult. As many have said, it is super trope-y, but it's to be expected when it's the work of a 16-year-old. Beat for beat, it's basically Star Wars: A New Hope, but with dragons. I remember really liking this as a kid, but it's super violent, which I don't so much like now.
Graphic: Animal death, Body horror, Confinement, Death, Gore, Physical abuse, Suicidal thoughts, Torture, Violence, Blood, Grief
Moderate: Child death, Cannibalism
Minor: Ableism
War
