hannahholm 's review for:
Having and Being Had
by Eula Biss
Everything I’ve read by Eula Biss—this book included—is thoughtful, unflinching, well-researched, and often dryly funny. Her prose is poetic without being flowery. Her choice of topics are important and difficult. I’d read her grocery lists.
That said, I could see how a book investigating the intellectual and emotional discomforts of having money would not be of value to all. It could be downright infuriating.
