Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics
by Richard H. Thaler
informative
fast-paced
Okay. I generally had a good time reading this. I enjoyed the sections on opportunity costs and loss aversion, but some of the nudge stuff at the end was a complete over-reach.
Calling incentives for teachers who can get students to pass some sort of test as a successful teaching method is delulu. I am a teacher. If I got a bonus for every kid who passed a test, every fucking day we'd be doing practice runs of that test. And what will the kids learn? How to take that fucking test in particular. Nothing else. And it would be at the cost of learning other materials. It's just so American (derogatory).
