Rebel
by Amy Tintera
Synopsis: Wren 178, Callum 22 ,along with the Austin Reboots, arrive at the Reboot Reservation .No longer soldiers of HARC and no longer human the reboots feel the reservation will provide them peace. Instead they are caught up in a sinister plan to exterminate humans by the charismatic but tyrannical Micah, leader of Reboot Reservation. Still hunted by HARC and feared by humans, Wren must decide which of her former lives is worth saving even if neither is favorable and at what cost. How do you find your identity in a world that defines you by a number?
Rebel is the sequel to Reboot and it did not suffer from the " curse of the sequel" maybe because it wasn't a middle book. I love when authors do not eek out the inky blood of their stories. I love ending while thirsty for more instead of drowning in drivel. This book does not disappoint. We are immediately thrust into the story. I love Wren. She is my favorite dystopian heroine by far. I was not sold on the duel POV Callum's voice was unnecessary because it didn't add much to the story. Good character development. The Callum and Wren romance is tastefully done and doesn't strip anything from the main storyline. Overall, a solid Duology and addition to the dystopian lit. Genre.
