"Adulthood was all about compromises, wasn't it?  You decide what you need, what you want and shift your priorities around until you find the least bad combination. Each compromise was a link in a chain, and if that chain dragged you down to the bottom of the East River?  Well, at least you had Netflix and Spotify to distract you while you sank."

While I don't have children or understand what its like to be a mother, I do know the feeling of the world not letting up on you.  I really appreciate what the author was conveying in not only the story they told but the author's note at the end.  A lot of time we end up so in our own shit that we forget that others can struggle too.

Ana and Reid move into a super upscale apartment building after winning a lottery.  Ana has been struggling with postpartum as well as a life altering accident during childbirth that paralyzes her from the waist down.  As they start their new life Ana starts to feel like the apartment and the tenants that reside make the Depford not safe place for her and her family.   Great twist on lore we have seen portrayed a lot  The only thing I think I didn't really care for was how fast Ana forgot about her friendship with her PT.  That felt a bit swept under the rug.
