I'm confused with all of the high ratings for this book. It wasn't terrible but I thought it would be a little scarier or have a more realistic fear factor. However, any of the suspenseful/scary elements were clearly the mind of a 9 year old girl who was scared being stuck out in the woods with a wild imagination and therefore just came across as silly or insignificant, which they all were in the end. Some of the survival element offered suspense but I've read better books addressing that type of storyline. Meh. At some parts of the book following her journey felt a little boring and dragging-on-ish.
