A really sweet story about a fake relationship turning into a real one, mixed with grief and spice. Overall, I really enjoyed it, but it took me a while to get into, and the epilogue was a bit too cheesy for me 😅
Colby (39) lost his husband to cancer, but after 3 years, he is ready to try again, just maybe not in the real world. His cousin recommends him an agency where you can book a partner, so he orders a husband experience. His husband for a week at his beach house is the charming Eli (28). How could anyone not fall I love with him?
There were a few things in the beginning that were just a bit weird (?) to me. Like, how Eli thought this would just be a week of fucking and was surprised by the other stuff.
"I'd expected a week of debauchery, not a week of tender dates and fond kisses." Did you not read this request for a HUSBAND who will LOVE him?! He is paying 50k for this (which is also insane) 👀
Colby was generally a bit hard for me to imagine. He was full of contrasts. Shy and sweet, but dominant. When he named primal play as his kink, I was surprised. But it was really tame.
That all being said, after a while their dynamic really blossomed, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Really intimate and private. It was just the two of them in the beach house for most of the book, which fit for a novella. The epilogue was a bit too cheesy for me, but objectively sweet 😌
