A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty by Joshilyn Jackson

5.0

Charming and I think this ties Never Have I Ever for my favorite Joshilyn Jackson novels. A story of three generations of women. Jackson gets the voice of each of these women (age 45, 30, and 15) right - including the one who has had a stroke. At the core is the love among these three women, and the lengths each will go. Each has secrets that lead the other two astray. It's a lovely story and I would love to know Ginny, Liza, and Mosey.

Edited to add after reading other reviews: Word to the wise, if you are a sensitive reader that who only likes characters who are outwardly "godly" (read: self-righteous), please don't read this book. This book features real people, without the self-righteous judgement that turns people away from church instead of toward it.
