Lord John and the Hand of Devils by Diana Gabaldon

3.0

The title doesn't make any sense. First of all, it should be Lord John the Haunted Soldier, no "and", as Lord John is the haunted soldier─if you can call it that. He thinks he sees a ghost twice. Otherwise, this has nothing to do with ghosts, haunting, or anything supernatural.

I found this little prophecy particularly interesting:
“Any woman who shares your bed will leave after no more than a single night, cursing you.”
Because, in [b: An Echo in the Bone|2832909|An Echo in the Bone (Outlander, #7)|Diana Gabaldon|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1370918297s/2832909.jpg|2859015], that is not true.
