This is probably technically the best book in the Wings of Fire series, and my second favorite one (Moon Rising is my favorite). This book is tragic and doesn't pull punches. We already had an idea of how it would end, from what we knew from Moon Rising, Winter Turning, and Escaping Peril. We knew it wouldn't end well for Darkstalker, Clearsight, and Fathom. But it was different to see it all play out in front of us, with being inside the characters heads while these tragic events were happening. Also, side note, but Clearsight's prophecy powers were so well written! It was so interesting to see all the possible futures, and how it impacted her in the present. Darkstalker's corruption arc was also pretty well written, although his shift towards darkness was a little fast. Honestly, though, I really just love this book. It's such an enjoyable read.
