I really enjoyed reading this book--I don't know if I would have if I hadn't seen the movie. I think in general it really spectacularly achieves what it set out to achieve.
I read a lot of books with LGBTQIA+ characters/themes and I wish that not every story with gay characters or about queer relationships would focus on coming out as such a big part of the story. I do think this book does a pretty good job of not making that the sole focus, though, and I understand why in the context of this story it would be a big deal for the characters to come out publicly or publicly be out. So that's fine.
All in all really good, super readable, and I blew through it in one day because I liked it so much.
