this was less than 200 pages, but so incredibly emotional.

in 1980’s poland, a time where being gay is unthinkable, ludwik & janusz meet at an agriculture camp and begin a secret relationship. they are slowly torn apart due to personal and political differences, while both trying to survive the day to day of living in a communist regime that is falling apart.

ludwik learns you can’t choose who you love, or force you to love you the way you want to be loved. his journey is so heart wrenching, but i was also so proud of him for doing what was right for him, even if it was incredibly hard.

can’t help but hope he found someone for him in the states.
