Another great read by Tracy Kidder himself! This nonfiction narrative talks about Dr. Jim O'Connell and his medical journey as a doctor and caretaker who creates a program and community of (medical) care, specializing in treating and looking after the homeless population in Boston and includes stories and anecdotes from some of the patients he saw and cared for. I liked how this novel was told from Kidder's perspective as he followed/shadowed Dr. O'Connell over the span of a few years, although at some points it got a bit confusing on if it was either Dr. O'Connell or Kidder himself that was speaking. I felt that this was an eye opening read about not only the prevalence of homelessness in america, but also the implicit biases and injustices that those who are considered "homeless" face in healthcare as well as within society due to its systematic structure.
