Royal Scoundrel by Saxon James

I read this because I love the frat wars books, specifically presidential chaos. I read it in a little over 24 hours, so clearly I guess I didn’t hate it that much. I’ve been struggling with the author recently and was hoping that returning to a new book in an old favorite series would help. Ultimately, I think my time with this author has passed. I’m looking for more heart and depth, less contrived feelings and drama. This wasn’t bad, but half an hour after reading it, I don’t really have many thoughts on it. I liked reading about characters kind of right on the cusp of the gay rights movement making big strides, and I think it put an interesting, different pressure on this MC not wanting to come out, as opposed to more modern MCs who want to remain closeted. Their relationship got serious, fast, and without a lot of on page explanation for what drove that change in their feelings. I know it’s a novella, so page space is limited, but I do feel like we got cheated out of reading about some of the best parts of their romance
