Drachenfels by Kim Newman, Jack Yeovil

4.0

A fun, grim-dark adventure with an eclectic cast.

The first of the Vampire Genevieve series, this novel follows Genevieve's involvement with the Great Enchanter Drachenfels and largely takes place at his haunted castle of the same name. Unusually, this story focuses on a theatrical play taking place in the castle retelling the apparent demise of Drachenfels some years earlier. There's magic, tragedy, adventure, humor, and a dash of heroism.

It's just a fun little story in the Old World of Warhammer. It's nothing spectacular, but there is a certain charm to it and I look forward to reading more of this series.
