Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil
by V.E. Schwab
I devoured this book in less than 48 hours.
I wish I could rate this infinity stars.
Whatever words I come up with in the next few minutes will never do this story justice.
This gave me the same feelings of existential reflection/contemplation of impermanence that Addie Larue gave, but with a much darker theme and air. I think I had an evil grin plastered on my face the whole time because the female rage in this book is palatable and freaking inspiring lol
The setting was perfection and ever changing. From Leon Spain to Boston MA, this felt like I was carried around the world and got to experience each city at a different point in time. It was a beautiful and violent adventure.
I fell in love with every single character and found relatability in each one.
The rage, the anxiety, the need for love, the longing for more in life…all of it. It was so real.
Perfection. Literary perfection.
No notes, no criticism, I wouldn’t change a single thing.
