Coraline and Other Stories by Neil Gaiman

5.0

This book means a great deal to me in terms of sentimental value, since it was one given to me by my English Literature teacher from college. For everyone in her classes she gave a book from her own shelves, and in each one she wrote a personal message. Mine says "Jesse, I chose this book for you because you're as quirky as the stories it contains." So whether I enjoy the stories or not I'm always going to hold this book in a special place in my heart.

♡Gaiman is, simply put, a treasure house of story, and we are lucky to have him in any medium.♡ (Stephen King)

♡I started this for Holly. I finished it for Maddy.♡ (Neil Gaiman)

My literature teacher was right, these stories are very quirky and unusual. But all amazing to read. It's completely fascinating that these stories have come out of someone's imagination. And even with the short stories I love how richly detailed they are for being as short as they are. And the concept for Coraline is unnerving and yet still completely fine for children. And that's something you don't find with most 'horror' novels.
