Smallbone Deceased by Michael Gilbert
medium-paced
4.25
I don’t know if you can legitimately call a murder mystery “pleasant”, but, if you can, it’s the best way to describe this classic. The plot is tightly woven, and, just when you think you know who the murderer is, the author throws in a twist that proves you’re on the wrong track. Perhaps the most unusual feature is that the victim — Mr Smallbone — is so small that his body can be hidden in the equivalent of a banker’s box.
