I very rarely enjoy the second book in a series as much as the first book, however this one exceeded my expectations in the best way.

The good:

I again had so much fun reading this book, just like the first one. Sometimes I want to read a book that will make me cry or sit on the edge of my seat and other times I want a book that will have me hooked and thoroughly entertained, this one was the latter – a truly swashbuckling adventure!

I really struggled with the relationship between Arn and Emme in the first book but for some reason I found it much more tolerable in this installment. I even managed to find myself smiling at the few sweet moments throughout.

I am a sucker for an interesting magic system (who isn’t though) and this one really managed to delve deeper in the magic, and I loved it.

The author nailed the ending. There was enough resolution to things that happened throughout the book that I wasn’t frustrated at the end, and it also managed to tease enough about potential storylines in the upcoming third book that I already can’t wait to read it.

The bad: I have to wait for the next one!

Thank you to the author and the publisher for providing me with an eARC copy for review. My thoughts and comments are solely my own.
