Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

3.0

I didn’t have very high expectations going into this which I’m glad for haha but the plot was really good towards the end!! This was a fun and short but it did take me a bit longer than usual because the plot felt slow moving in the first half. It started centering on the characters and their backgrounds / individual stories but that meant the main problem / plot was brought in late. The second half of the book is where it really picked up and I got really interested when events started happening outside of the every day life of Evie at the manor.

The dynamic between Evie and the Villain was funny but seemed to drag on throughout the story till the last 50ish pages when it the plot twists were happening. I did like how it ended and thought the plot twists were well done!

The writing in this book is not the best in my opinion, it’s one you’ll enjoy more for the vibes. I would say it falls in the same category as The Shadows Between Us - a fun quick romantasy I wouldn’t take too seriously
