Emily of New Moon by L.M. Montgomery

4.0

I haven't yet encountered an L.M. Montgomery book that I didn't like, but this is an especially sweet and vulnerable novel. Montgomery was a master at writing characters, and within this book are vivid portraits of the people who make up Emily Starr's world. I'm excited to read the next books in the trilogy, because unlike the Anne books Emily's life story seems to be winding toward something specific, exploring the depths of the artistic world that feels like it must have been autobiographical.
