Boy did I not know what I was getting into when I found book #5 at a second hand store. Best $6 I’ve ever spent. I finished this in less than a day. I really liked that although I marked the book as fast paced, the plot didn’t feel rushed. Sometimes with tropes like these (mafia, crime world, hitman etc) I find that the twist and resolution comes in the last 20 pages and doesn’t feel very “resolved.” However, the resolution started at the appropriate time and fizzled out throughout the rest of the book giving the story the ending it deserved. I enjoyed the writing and Riona and Raylen’s story. The storyline overall was unforgettable, especially Raylen and his mom’s backgrounds. I never minded that the dialogue lasted multiple pages, I really appreciated that the author spent so much time building those storylines. It made me feel more connected to the characters. I’m excited to work my way backwards and see what else Sophie Lark has in store for me!
