Pits & Poison: These Godly Lies by R. Raeta

5.0

if you are reading this review hoping to find the perfect duology, you have hit the jackpot my friend.

i’m so glad i’m back in this beautiful world and can see anna and khiran again. i don’t wanna keep reapeating the same word but it’s truly exactly what this book is, beautiful. and it’s all because of the characters this author created. it’s heartbreaking knowing their story is over (for me at least).

anna is truly one of my favorite main characters, i loved her from page one and i loved her until the very last one. she has lived for centuries, she has seen the true evil of humanity, she has been the target of it, and yet she remains kind.
that’s just the word to describe her, she is kind, she is GOOD, she deserves the immortality she was given cause she just loves life and she loves humans.
her relationship with khiran might be one of the gentlest i’ve read about. these two just KNOW each other so deeply, you could feel their love through the pages. only they can understand each other on the level they do. they talk, they feel, they understand and they are just so devoted to the other. it’s so amazing to see those feelings so strongly through BOTH sides, the constant reminder that “if you go, i go”.

khiran said he knows anna’s heart as well as his and you could truly feel how real that was. they just had such a deep connection that i myself am amazed on how the author was able to express how intricate it was without it being seen as fake. they didn’t need to TELL the other how much they loved them, they just knew.

i am so grateful that i was put on the same earth as these books. thank you to whatever decisions i made to end up picking up this story.
